Play 38-038-0 is a football season simulator with a draft on the front. You build an XI, then it plays every game of a league season against real club sides. 38 games in the Premier League, 46 in the Championship, 22 in the Scottish Premiership.
How a match is simulated
Each side has a team rating. Expected goals start at 1.35 each. For every rating point you're better than the opposition, you add 0.075 and they lose 0.075. The score is drawn from a Poisson distribution around those numbers, so upsets happen.
Each team has a 6% chance of a red card in any match. A side down to ten scores less and concedes more for the rest of the game, and the earlier the red, the bigger the hit.

Who you play
Two options. Classic fills your league with a random mix of iconic and current sides. Modern season puts you in the latest real season: the lowest-rated club drops out and you take its place. Every opponent is rated on its best XI.
Before kick-off
The bookies run 160 simulated seasons of your XI. You get a projected finish and your odds to win the league, make the top 4, the top 6, the top half, or go down. Swap players round before GW1 and the odds update.
During the season
Play it a gameweek at a time with a live table, or skip to the end. With match events on you get goalscorers, assists, cards, injuries and a five-man bench. Turn the January window on and you can swap up to three players at halfway.
After the season
Every league except the Süper Lig has its real domestic cup as an option, played as a knockout after the league. Some leagues finish their own way:

The same season for everyone
The Daily Challenge in 38-0 fixes the league, the clubs you're offered and the season itself, so the same XI always gets the same results. One ranked go a day on a global board. 38-0 Daily is the two-minute version, with the same reels, rivals and fixtures for everyone. For a knockout instead of a league, play World Cup 7-0. For one match against another player, play 38-0 Multiplayer.

FAQ
Is the season random?
Each score is drawn at random around the expected goals, so the same XI can finish differently in two seasons. In the Daily Challenge the season is fixed for the day, so the same XI gets the same results.
Can I simulate a real league season?
Close. Pick Modern season and you replace the lowest-rated club in the latest real season. The fixture list is generated, not the real calendar.
How many leagues are there?
14: Premier League, Championship, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie, Liga Portugal, Süper Lig, Scottish Premiership, Belgian Pro League, Brasileirão, MLS and Argentina.
