All-time XI builder

Legends and current stars in one draft. Then it has to win something.

Play 38-0

Most all-time XI builders let you pick anyone. Everyone ends up with the same eleven and nothing happens next. Kickabout deals you the clubs instead. Manchester United 2007-08 one round, a side you'd half forgotten the next. You take one player from each and build the best XI you can. Then it plays a full season.

How to build an all-time XI

Open 38-0 and pick a league. Under Squad pool, Classic play mixes iconic and current sides from every era. Era play lets you set the years yourself, and has an All-time preset. Ratings are hidden by default. Turn them on to see what each player is worth before you place him.

Every league has its own pool: Premier League, Championship, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie, Liga Portugal, Süper Lig, Scottish Premiership, Belgian Pro League, Brasileirão, MLS and Argentina.

For an all-time national XI, play World Cup 7-0. It deals national squads from World Cups and Euros, from 1950 to the 48 teams at the 2026 World Cup.

How legends are rated against today's players

Every player is ranked against his own league that season, then placed on one scale set by how strong that league was. A 1970s great is judged against the 1970s.

The ratings stop at 89 for everyone except players who made a Ballon d'Or or FIFA world player podium, plus greats who couldn't win one. They go higher, and only for the seasons they earned it. Four player-seasons hit 94: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United 2007-08) and Lionel Messi (Barcelona 2008-09) in the club game, Pelé (Brazil 1958) and Maradona (Argentina 1986) in World Cup 7-0.

The catch: eras don't mix

Eleven players from eleven decades never played together, and the game knows it. Your team rating loses up to 7 points for era spread, worked out from the gap between your oldest and newest season and how scattered the rest are.

Your XI's seasonsRating lost
All from one season0
Ten from 2015-16 to 2024-250.6
The same ten plus one from 1967-686.6

So the best all-time XI on paper is rarely the best team. Build a spine from a few close seasons and the penalty stays near zero. More on this in 38-0 tips.

See what you missed

When the season ends, the Perfect Draft panel shows the best XI you could have built from the clubs you were offered, and its average against yours. Then share your XI as a card. Want the quick version? 38-0 Daily is one two-minute draft a day.
